One of the most popular mountain getaways in southern California, Big Bear is a destination that overdelivers in both summer and winter. Set in San Bernardino National Forest, during hot months, visitors flock to the lake for boating or fishing or take on the area’s hiking and biking trails. During winter, skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes at Snow Summit or Bear Mountain. As far as lodging goes, vacation rentals are the preferred option, and luxury cabins in Big Bear abound.
With so many Big Bear luxury cabins to choose from, we set out to narrow the list down to only the very best in the area. This guide is based on personal experience and, as with all our lodging guides, we’ve made sure to cater to different budgets and group sizes and included numerous pet-friendly homes and cabins with hot tubs.
