It really depends on what you’re looking for! Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are both popular areas close to Great Smoky Mountains National Park but offer two different experiences.

Pigeon Forge has a more lively atmosphere with larger attractions like Dollywood and lots of entertainment options in terms of shows and amusement parks. As for nightlife, there’s always something going on at The Island in Pigeon Forge.

Alternatively, Gatlinburg is known for its direct access to Great Smoky Mountain National Park and has a more laid-back vibe. Boutiques, cafes, art galleries, and small eateries make the town quite charming. It’s also well known for being an outdoor hub with activities like hiking and rafting.

What is the best time of year to visit Pigeon Forge?

Pigeon Forge is a popular four-season destination, but late Spring and early Fall are the best times to visit for moderate temps and manageable crowds. Of course, the foliage is also stunning in the Fall.
